Before I tell you anything else about this 3 track promo CD, I only say these four words: get this shit fast!!! “Why?” you ask, well I’ll tell you… Divine Rapture, heading from the US, play brutal Death Metal in the Morbid Angel / Hate Eternal – style (Erik Rutan also produced this CD), adding their own note to this of course not very new or innovative concept. But this special note is what makes Divine Rapture so incredibly great and definitely enables them to stand alone among a mass of worthless copies. They mix some small guitar harmonies and melodies into their music, that make you think “aah, sounds like Swedish melodic Death”, but in the next moment they rip everything into a thousand bloody pieces with the thunderous growling and screaming of their talented vocalist. Then precise blasts set in and you know that this is no pussy-Metal (check out ‘Affliction’, it proves this best). Also the lyrical concept they offer, differs a lot from what most Death Metal bands are able to deliver in their lyrics. Divine Rapture have an intense, aggressive and emotional approach, what is a nice surprise among all those blasphemous and gory texts (although I do not have a problem with this traditional lyrics). It reminds me a bit of late DEATH and ATHEIST. Also the guitar solos have a slight progressive touch, but Divine Rapture are not excessive in this manor, they intensify the anger and rage by changing from melodic to brutal elements and it does not ruin the songs. They don’t lose themselves in showing off technical qualities (although song #2 ‘Funeral Mist’ is a little chaotic, song #3 is again a short and straight one), but create a very intense and original mixture of brutal & progressive Death Metal that does not forget, but respect its roots. Get this CD! You won’t be disappointed. Contact: DIVINE RAPTURE P.O Box 159, Chester Heights, PA 19017, U.S.A., website: www.divinerapture.net Mail to: info@divinerapture.net
