Here goes something cool for all you thrashin’ Death maniacs! The oddly named (you would probably count on tiresome Doom Gothic Metal with a name like DORMITORY, haha!) German four piece has finally managed to emerge on the surface with their self released debut album “Inhuman Conditions” after several years of being around in the underground circuit. But sometimes good things just take time, huh?! However, in case you dig straight forward Thrash and Death Metal with rough but still pretty “understandable” vocals, this is gonna be a good pick. DORMITORY rely on the basic songwriting formula of performing some mostly powerful Thrash Metal riffing in the vein of SLAYER, DARK ANGEL or MALEVOLENT CREATION with a good amount of melody and heavy groove to it. By adding all the way catchy, yet sometimes maybe a bit simplistic drumming, as well as a fair mixture of up-speed and midpaced material, these guys achieve to sound quite easy to access and understand already at first listening throughout all the featured and powerfully produced 10 songs on this album (‘Buried In Sadness’ being an accoustic-guitar instrumental and the additional track is an intro of a suicidal gunshot while listening to Heavy Metal music….). People into the more technical side of things might feel that DORMITORY are a bit “predictable” and missing on some stand out song, but for the headbanging Deathrashers, this is gonna be an interesting band to keep an eye on!
