DWOOM
Pale Mare Demo MMXVII

This stuff is excellent! I rarely listen to Doom, but a release like this excites to go out look for equally killer gems. DWOOM is from Skellefteå in Sweden. Although formed in 2010, this demo called "Pale Mare Demo MMXVII" is their first release. Better wait than overdo it, right? Well, the result is pretty excellent. First thing that stood out is the sound which is heavy and sleazy. This gives an unexpected rawness to the epicness. This made HOODED MENACE come up as comparison, especially in the beginning of the second track ‘Pale Mare’. This demo features three tracks by the way, ‘Fallen Again’, ‘Pale Mare’ and ‘Empty Temples’. Apart from this, the resemblance with this band ends, because an mouldy atmosphere of rotting corpses is absent here. Instead, it sounds as great as CANDLEMASS, without ripping them off. A hybrid of these giants couldn’t be less than excellent or (at least) interesting. In the case of DWOOM it luckily is; powerful debaucheries alternated by epic splurges in the form of galvanizing and powerful songs. This demo creates high expectations for their (hopefully) upcoming full-length, but for now this is a mighty treat. Worth your support, also for Death Metal fans (who should listen first).
