Hailing from the icy landscapes of Norway, ENTOMOPHTHORA delivers a modern take on Death Metal with their debut full-length “Instinctual Disease”. Spanning eight tracks, this album marks the band’s first major step to build their own name using the Death Metal flag. With a sound that blends relentless brutality and a contemporary edge, “Instinctual Disease” carves out a space for itself within the genre. ENTOMOPHTHORA harnesses cold, biting riffs and guttural intensity, while maintaining a polished production style. The album showcases a balance of raw aggression and calculated precision, creating a fresh yet faithful homage to their Death Metal roots. The album opens with ‘Artwork Of Madness’ a track that immediately sets the tone of the album and prepares us for the identity of this new project as even though ENTOMOPHTHORA is a new player within the Death Metal scene, it was formed by very experienced musicians. They also reinforce their style with tracks like ‘Vortex Of Violence’ or ‘The Flames Of Chaos’. I would also highlight the SEPULTURA cover ‘Mass Hypnosis’ which of course, sends a message to the old Death Metal maniacs. I also enjoyed the closing track ‘Aftermath’ as it sounds atmospheric and I loved its vibe. Clocking in at just over 32 minutes, “Instinctual Disease” is a solid release that promises to leave a mark on fans of modern extreme Metal. For those seeking innovation within the traditions of Death Metal, ENTOMOPHTHORA’s debut is a must-hear.
