FEANOR is an Argentinian Heavy Metal band with Tolkien inspired lyrics. Their fifth full length album “Hellhammer” starts with a great melodic riff and the inmediate thing it reminds me of is that Micke Stark’s vocals sound very similar to Fabio Lione’s. It has great epic / symphonic choruses. The guitar solos are amazing. There’s some dual vocals thrown in there too. ‘Bad Decisions’ has some HELLOWEEN influcences, which is kind of normal for every band that wants to play European Power Metal. It sounds like it could be on one of the “Keeper Of The Seven Keys” albums or maybe on GAMMA RAY’s “Heading For Tommorrow”. There are some neoclassical guitar solos here. It is refreshing to listen to this album since I can’t remember the last time that I really enjoyed some Power Metal music. The genre had been stagnant for years now. Oh my God! The title track is a huge fist pumping Metal anthem. And it is not the only one on the album. If you like those MANOWAR type of anthems, you will dig the ones on here. ‘The Epic Of Galgamesh’ is a very beautiful orchestrated instrumental that sounds very dramatic before turning into another fist pumping song with insane vocals and more gang choruses. ‘H.M.J.’ stands for Heavy Metal Jesus… this one shouldn’t have made the album. Those are one of the silliest lyrics that I ever heard. The song isn’t that bad, but the lyrics are ridiculous. The album cover reminds me of BLIND GUARDIAN’s “Somewhere Far Beyond”. Check out ‘The Flight Of The Valkyries’ for the most insane screaming vocals since ‘Painkiller’. This is one of the best releases of this year so far and I truly recommend that you get this one if you like your Heavy / Power Metal catchy and anthemic. www.facebook.com/feanorband, www.facebook.com/noremorserecordsgreece
