FORMLESS OEDON
Streams Of Rot
(Memento Mori)
35:50min

The album title fits like a glove, because it is really a stream of rot, of rotten Death Metal to be more precise, which awaits the listener. FORMLESS OEDON are a rather new band, formed back four years ago and luckily Memento Mori from Spain have secured the rights for the debut. So hopefully this will ensure that this little masterpiece finds a wide audience, after already the EP “Deathless Luminosity” attracted attention. Strictly objectively speaking, FORMLESS OEDON does not play anything that other bands have already played countless times before. Crushing and cavernous riffs and more simple songwriting, but well executed. Mostly traveling at a medium pace with faster parts, which reminds me of KRISIUN showing the musicians in full possession of their technical skills. The quartet from the Philippines does not really present anything new, but it still stands out among the ever flowing stream of new releases. The usual suspects are the quality of the riffs, the well-balanced sound, a homogenous songwriting, a pretty perfect guttural Death Metal vocal performance, an occult lyrical concept dealing with cosmic horror that perfectly fits to the music and, overall, the enthusiasm and joy of playing. There is a promo picture of FORMLESS OEDON, which fits utterly into the overall work of art: showing four guys dressed in Metal long sleeves standing in a cemetery. That is what Death Metal is all about. More information can be found at www.facebook.com/formlessoedon or www.facebook.com/memento.mori.label
