FROSTLAND DARKNESS is undoubtedly the northernmost one-man Black Metal entity in the whole world. FROSTLAND DARKNESS, run by Mantus Nord, comes originally from Kolari, Lapland (Finland), since then relocating to Helsinki, Finland. Could there be more isolated and distant place on the world to run a band than Kolari, Lapland? Perhaps not. If one comes from a place where the sun doesn’t raise up on the horizon at all for about 6 months nonstop in a year, you really cannot think of making some happy, warm and relaxed sounding Reggae music, do you? As the band name FROSTLAND DARKNESS so clearly suggests to you already, coldness and grimness are two middle names for FROSTLAND DARKNESS. In fact, the band’s 2nd album, titled "Ad Moriendum Dei Gratia", is a kind of traditional Norse sounding Black Metal record. It’s been wrapped up with a very dark, cold and frosty feel, containing of raw, straightforward and melancholic elements that one can expect from a Black Metal band coming from the northern hemisphere. Basically this is all well and even pretty convincingly done, BEHERIT-ian Black Metal but then again, this type of stuff has unfortunately worn out its charm so many years ago. If FROSTLAND DARKNESS had crawled out of its coldest nest of darkness about 20 years ago, then the band’s impact on us would definitely have been a whole different, just no doubt. In the cursed year of 2013, all they manage to do us now, is like leaving most of us to ponder where we would need FROSTLAND DARKNESS for that sounds like all of those other 6522869 copy bands out there? Well, if you feel an urgent guilty pleasure to add no. 6522870, devotedly Norse sounding Black Metal act into your music collection, then by all means to do so. Anyway, more darkness, grimness and frosty evilness can be found at www.facebook.com/frostlanddarkness
