GLUTTONY hails from Sweden and started playing Death Metal in 2009. The latest offering “Drogulus”, is their third full-length, and like all previous releases, the Swedes are still playing straight forward Swedish styled Death Metal, which comes out with enough to be considered solid and enjoyable throughout. By alternating crushing mid-tempo and engaging up-tempos, characterized by the hyper distorted guitar riffs, their inspiration from the classic ENTOMBED period and many monster albums from the past might not need any mentions. The beginning with ‘The Pallid Mask’, is a very familiar and generally wholesale representation of the Swedish style of Death Metal. With sophisticated utilizations of those grinding buzz-saw grooves to great effect, ‘Feed Off The Flesh’, ‘Legions Of Eternal Death’ and ‘Of Blasphemous Infinity’ behold many damaging patterns throughout where high-speed tempos graced by the simplicity and furious energy of the Punk roots provide a varied approach. All fast tracks tend to remain, so while the slower doomy rhythms manage to employ a tight and well-rounded sound than expected. ‘Under Rotting Portraits’, ‘Old In Wrath And Woe’, ‘Temples Of Tsathoggua’ and ‘Towers Of Frost’ will make that evident. Besides the standard song structure and sturdy atmosphere, the aggressive bass work keeps the songs farm with its muddy grooves and manic style. This almost churning, ever-present bass tone throbbing away in the background, will remain one memorable experience from this record. Bestial Invasion Records, now make this record available worldwide and it surely deserves some spins from all the obsessive followers of this undying sound.
