A short organ intro, a riff that sounds suspiciously like the opening riff of DARKTHRONE’s ‘Cromlech’ and off we go into the world of sound created by HEXENALTAR, a newcomer from Poland. The German band name translates to somewhat like “Witch Altar”. And when you add the album title to it, it comes as no surprise that the band moves into Black / Thrash Metal realms. Whether it’s more ’80s Thrash or ’90s Black Metal is up to some weisenheimers to decide. I particularly like the joy of playing which the quartet hammers down the songs. Unfortunately only three in number. But fortunately six more tracks are added, which were recorded live from Evil Madness II, Lódz – April 30, 2022, where HEXENALTAR shared the stage wit SEXMAG and TORPOR. The sound of this live recording fits perfectly, because it catches the live feeling and is at the same time clear and powerful. So the six songs are not just fillers, instead really enhance this EP.
