I have a secret to tell you. Something that the Metal press has been hiding from you all. Much of the printed press and even online publications pass this by. I hate to be so overly dramatic, but this is something that is so monumental that the revelation of Area 51 and aliens would pale in comparison. The children of VENOM, DESTRUCTION and SODOM have formed a group of their own to carry on what their fathers have created. Yes, you have read this correctly. They have been secretly gathering in the back alley rehearsal rooms and recording studios of Germany (Dresden specifically) and putting to tape a sound that has become a pillar in the world we call Heavy Metal. Yes, you scoff, and I can already envision that face of derision that you currently have. Trust me, I had the same attitude of skepticism myself in my withered and grey wisdom. With that being said, my inside sources told me of this lil nugget, and I had to delve further upon hearing of what is transpiring here. So now I ask you as well to take the time and look into this for yourself. LEAD INJECTOR is the name, and typical as it may be, I made the foray to see what this band has to offer. It all starts innocently enough in the beginning. You see the band name / logo, the cover art and you may not help but suppress a yawn of boredom. You say to yourself, “yup another blackened Thrash band, and I already know what to expect before I even press play.” After a brief (but glorious) intro, that offers a prelude of what you are about to encounter, you sit back and listen and think to yourself, okay, not too bad. Track 2 roars into your speakers and it makes you sit up a bit. Those guitars and the riffing it exudes reminds you of that little something, perhaps of the days of yore. ‘Evil Executioner’ then strikes at you next. You begin hearing those specific little tidbits in the drums, those nuggets of auditory aura and attitude that capture your attention with each passing moment. By the time the galloping groove of ‘Witching Attack’ grabs you by the seat of your pants, it would not matter in the slightest because you are already up and thrashing about your room in spasms of joyful glee beforehand. Can you believe though that the song is only two minutes in length?! Despite that, you are already thinking “what is going on here?!” and you can only extend your hand outward in shaky anticipation and turn the volume up louder because you have to know and understand and even form the notion in your feeble little mind “Is that Cronos I’m hearing? WTF? Did Schmier do a guest vocal?!” To contemplate those moments, you are sure Mantas is doing the solo (‘Angel Destructor’), and when you ponder this, then I know you will believe as well. That is when the spirit and chaotic rambunctiousness of early SODOM comes across to you when listening to the track, ‘Pest Thrash’, or that exact moment when you hear a riff that only Quorthon would love and just had to incorporate into the song. It’s all just a whirlwind of jubilation and glee over what has just transpired. So by the time you hear the wailing sirens and sounds of destruction at the end of this release, you lie splattered on the floor in euphoric contemplation. It will only signify and express the destruction of your preconceived notions of music and what has just transpired in your mind, and also perhaps what is left of your room as well. So, yes, this…this, my fellow Metalheads… this is the secret they have been keeping from us. That we may not be able to grasp that this can happen now in our current age, and also truly accept the idea that true old school Metal from beyond can be brought to us in the here and now. That is what makes this so special. This is the holy grail of those fleeting moments we all pursue in our musical endeavours. This is what they have been hiding from us. So, my fellow readers hear amongst the hallowed sanctum that is Voices From The Darkside, I’m here to tell you it’s true, and we all need to take heed and listen. Having said this though, I’m a bit sad, or maybe thoughtful is the right word, that we are all, or some of us, looking for those specific moments of the past or something that gives that feeling from those hallowed glory days, or even a tether to what brought us here to the here and now. Yes, I may be overly dramatic (most definitely) and / or a bit enthusiastic in my presentation, but still, we miss this, don’t we?! Those ties and feelings from the past? It is all why we are all here, reading this, right? So In the ending, all I have to say is this. Just be content with what you are embarking upon with this latest release from these youngsters. Prime SODOM, VENOM, DESTRUCTION and even BATHORY all rear their ugly heads here. In all its unfettered and monumental glory. LEAD INJECTOR have created what many have vainly and woefully failed to create. They have amalgamated that ever so perfect union of sonic approach, old school attitude and, in general, dare I say true (trve?!). The Metal sound of our forefathers that brings us to this day and age. www.instagram.com/lead_injector, www.facebook.com/hrrecords
