OSSARIO
Grave Metal

When I think of Sicily, this island at the boot tip of Italy, Metal is not the first that comes to mind. But the really new three piece OSSARIO comes exactly from this island with a history that goes back to the ancient Greek and Phoenicians. As I’m not here to teach you a history lesson, I will now praise a band that does not have a long history. Started about a year ago, the discography of OSSARIO features an EP and a split EP with LICH to date. These two releases are now put out again, combined on one full length CD and tape, along with a new song and and two instrumentals pieces who serve as intro and outro. The result is called “Grave Metal” and means about half an hour of some of the finest Black Thrash Metal in years. OSSARIO focus on what really makes this subgenre of Metal so special. The guitars are rich and really skull splitting, full of Black riffs and harmony fragments. But the base of the music of OSSARIO are thrashing drums, preferably on high speed, but also grooving in mid tempo, garnished with some double bass drum attacks. This might sound like established ingredients mixed up again. In fact it means a fresh, vivid and really wicked sound that rips and tears. And thus songs like the first full one ‘We’re All Born To Die’ or the raging ‘Torment Sweet Torment’ became regulars on my playlist during the last days. And ‘Rigor Mortis Boner’ or the high speed steamroller ‘Sadomartyrs’ are potential classics of the Black Thrash genre to be. The only “new” song on “Grave Metal”, ‘Well Of The Drowned Whore’ fits the “older” songs like a glove and can be seen as a promise of great things to come. So, if you’re into fine extreme music, do yourself a favour and check out OSSARIO at www.facebook.com/ossario-102928118083232, or visit the label responsible for this fine CD: www.facebook.com/ibdc666
