PANDEMIC OUTBREAK
Torment Beyond Comprehension

Believe me, when I say that I’m not doing this on purpose, but we got ourselves another contender for the most amazing cover art to accompany this, the latest from Poland’s own PANDEMIC OUTBREAK. The art is almost like either Ed Repka or maybe even Dan Seagrave. If you are a Metalhead, you have to know who I’m speaking of. Which reminds me, I gotta send a note to the boss man to maybe add cover art to year-end top 10 lists. I apologize for my digressions (it’s the artist in me), so let’s get to the music itself, shall we? From the name alone and the logo you can gather what you are about to experience, and for the most part, you wouldn’t be wrong. On the onset, I just have to say the overall sound is amazing and listening to this I get a touch of SENTIENT HORROR, but with a bit more of a Thrash infused essence. Also a lot of fellow Euro brethren ERUPTION. I mention the latter band (who are amazing also), because there are plenty of melodic stylings incorporated into the songwriting, be it in the leads, or some of the guitar harmonies that have a similar feel to some of the greats. No details, but you have to know who I am speaking of. So, those elements, it’s not overpowering; it’s just an added flavor to allow for the primary Thrash element to shine and to take hold of you. Also, full disclosure, I will admit I had HOLYCIDE on my top Thrash playlist and maybe a year-end hopeful addition. But you know? This album just took over that spot. This is just a fun… well, maybe that’s the wrong word, but a great listen after a bad day of work. Believe me, I know, I speak from experience. From what you may have gathered this is not a Bay Area Thrash nor a New York style version, but sorta a hybrid of all that you have heard and know. Not to sound negative, but this is sort of a modern hybrid of all that is great about the genre. You take the aforementioned bands and a tiny bit of a Death Metal approach in its intensity, a bit of a modern production and the amalgamation of some of the latest of the new wave of Thrash and you come away with an honest to goodness… dare I say almost… true Thrasher. I was one of the many / few who came away disenchanted with the latest DARK ANGEL output. So, maybe not quite in the same league as that originator, with this, I came away with a good sense of energy and also that honest-to-goodness intensity. I look for that emotion, I crave that instinct that makes you automatically air guitar / headbang in response. I could almost say that this just about fulfills that need. The year is not over yet, let’s see what happens. Take the time and experience it for yourselves; the information is here: www.facebook.com/pxoxdeathrash, www.facebook.com/godzovwarproductions
