Texan Death Metal in the vein of STABBING with a better drum sound that is limited to just about 25 minutes. PNEUMA HAGION hail from San Antonio, Texas, USA and play a nasty version of Death Metal that we love from the get-go. Without being incredibly repetitive or heavy for the sake of being heavy PNEUMA HAGION take time to carve out their songs with good writing that shows. The opener ‘Harbinger Of Dissolution’ is an excellent entrant to their world of heaviness. I can hear the brilliant riffs and relentless drumming that seems to build and disappear just as their atmosphere does. Yes, this is slammy, but all Texan Death Metal is slammy, so it should come as no surprise. The guitars are certainly a standout, the rhythms seep into the envelope, while the leads stand straight in the rubble. Once again, this is the kind of drumming I like, machine gun double bass and incredible control over the skins. Death Metal sounds like these are either a hit or a miss, either you love it from the first note or you just discard it. Regardless, check them out, this is a good mature, modern sound that doesn’t disappoint or suck, it rather sucks you into their territory and drowns you in their writing.
