Every now and then, you may get somewhat pleasingly surprised by some new stuff that is thrown on your way. This time, this trick was done to me by a new Finnish extreme Metal act known as RAWAGE that mixes some tasteful ingredients from Death Metal, Black Metal and Thrash Metal on the band’s 2nd demo, titled "Triumph Of Sin". RAWAGE have only been around for a relatively short time, as they were founded just 3 years ago, in 2009. Ever since these fellows’ main goal has been the same: playing a vicious, merciless, heads-exploding and brutal form of Metal music that borrows some of its influences from bands like DESASTER, DESTRÖYER 666 and LEGION OF THE DAMNED – and whatnot, perhaps from some other bands as well. On the "Triumph Of Sin" demo, all the three tracks that are featured on it, seem to have enough boot in all of them that manage to make our asses going deep bluish. The guys’ playing is tight and very focused, without really giving listeners much chance to take a deeper breath during the band’s 11-something minutes mangling session on this 3-track effort. In other words liking them won’t be a problem: they obviously sound very likeable for most of us. By this, I mean if some sort of blackened yet occasionally even melodic bastard mix of both Death- and Thrash Metal is your cup of the blackest coffee. There’s a constant yet good vibe going on within RAWAGE’s stuff here, securely offering us all that what we are expecting to get from them for our necessary daily doses of extreme Metal in the first place. So yeah, I can say I was somewhat positively surprised by getting this nice opportunity to hear some RAWAGE’s stuff. They have truly got a good load of potential in them, I think.
