If you’re in love with Heavy "insert profanity of choice" Metal then you’re in for a treat with "Another Dimension", the debut album by New Zealand’s RAZORWYRE and easily one of the best debuts I’ve heard recently, especially in this specific genre! From the instant the first riffs blast through your speakers you will get the feeling that "this is going to be killer!" and well, damn right! Think the speedy drive of HALLOWS EVE, EXCITER, SAVAGE STEEL combined with the melodic sense of classic HELSTAR, an influence very much present also in the vocal-department (a line from ‘Knights Of Fire’ goes "Storming our way through the night" and in terms of phrasing bears obvious similarities to "God save our queen from the light" from the über-hit ‘Dark Queen’), add to that some anthemic JUDAS PRIEST vibe and you’ll have a good impression of this powerful opus. Sharp riffs, thunderous drumming, a great transparent yet organic and raw production, mighty leads, strong hooks characterize this album and take you back through time to days when "ballad" was still a swear word while avoiding sounding too retro or rancid. Energy and sheer force is what makes RAZORWYRE so remarkable and they let a lot of competitors look deadly pale in terms of class, dedication and quality. Vocalist Z. Chylde has a cool timbre and though not being as flawless as James Rivera reminds me of him a lot especially when doing these higher screams though there is definitely also a darker, at times imperfect charm that also brought IN SOLITUDE’s Pelle to my mind. Songs like the furious opener ‘Conjuror’, ‘FOBF’ (= fight or be fought) with its gangshout chorus, the tasteful instrumental ‘The Infinite’ preluding the stomping ‘Desert Inferno’, ‘Speed Warrior’ or closing ‘Hangman’s Noose’ are only some highlights of this 46min long ripper and judging from a couple of YouTube live clips RAZORWYRE certainly deliver the goods and eat you alive onstage, too, so Keep It True bookers, pounding Heavy Metal enthusiasts, fist bangers and legionnaires of steel embrace this immensely potent newcomer and join them in "Another Dimension" where there is no anti-cosmic bullshit, no overproduced trigger shite, no putrid fondling with whatever-core, a time when GRAVE DIGGER had no German songs and the Berlin Wall was still intact. Yes, this is 80s worship deluxe and totally anachronistic but at the same time as fresh and high-octane energetic as it gets and made with a lot of care and diligence. Like this, buy this and recommend it to your friends! www.razorwyreband.com, www.facebook.com/razorwyre, www.inferno-records.net
