STAINLESS is a Heavy Metal band from Portland, Oregon that, to ears like mine, resonates with a single word: “savage”. Yes, like a wild animal. Like a savage animal from the harsh jungle that arrives to devour its prey. Charged with the air of classic Hard Rock, STAINLESS is capable of combining sounds, styles and atmospheres typical of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal from the early eras of each genre and translating them into an album that evaporates those essences into melody and rhythm. I like the band’s attitude. I like the identity and I like how they structured this first full-length. Despite being a young band, with less than four years among us, they sound like the bands one listened to when starting in this universe called Metal. I love when this happens because it feels familiar, close and little to nothing hypothetical. There is no room for ambiguities. A band that makes music to make us feel that euphoria of the early years. I suppose for many other people it was different, but, at least in my case, the first sources I drank from were precisely those of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. So listening to a band like STAINLESS feels organic and natural. The STAINLESS line-up is Larissa Cavacece (vocals), Selina Cleary (bass), Charlie Koryn (drums), Jamie Byrum (guitar) and Eric Wallace (guitar). All musicians of great quality and experience. Just look at the bands they have participated in to understand the context. To realize that they themselves (the musicians) also drank from the same sources I mentioned. ‘Restless An’ Ready’, ‘Lady Of Lust & Steel’ and ‘Take A Listen Mama’ are the three songs I liked most from the album. “Lady Of Lust & Steel” is an album destined for those who enjoy the purest Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.
