Wow! I know there are many one man bands, but for some reason not that many traditional Heavy Metal one man bands. Well, this is one of the best I’ve heard in some time. Coming from the land of MERCYFUL FATE, formed by Andreas Thunbo, who has 30 years of experience under his belt, playing from Doom Metal to Black / Death, in this new incarnation he goes for a true Heavy Metal sound, where IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and SAXON auras fill the air. The vocals remind me more of the early American Power / Speed Metal bands from the ’80s. With more than a few touches that remind of epic Heavy Metal, the songs are simple, well played and have many hooks that will be kept in you brain for long. Some keyboards in here and there reminded me of WARLORD. And the lyrics seem to be about dark and mysterious forces battling for the fate of mankind. Ok, in some songs the tempo is probably a bit similar here and there, but the riffs are so good that it will not be a problem for those looking for the real sword. I do like the vocals, as they keep the flow going. Ok, maybe a more gifted vocalist would create more atmosphere, but who knows what the future will give? As it is, a very enjoyable album, it checks for me all the good things that reminds me why Heavy Metal is the law! www.facebook.com/jawbreakerrecords
