ULFHETHNAR are neither hailing from Scandinavia nor are they a kind of Viking Metal band. Of course the band’s name is taken from the Norse history as Ulfhethnar were viking warriors who dressed up in wolves coats and only lived for their thirst of blood. And this outfit thirsts for your blood! The band itself hails from the austral lands of Argentina and this unholy duo plays extremely raw, ultra fast and grim Black Metal. The eight tracks of this debut album carry the true essence of darkness and evil. The riffs are cold and freezing. The drum work is merciless and fast forward and above all thrones a devastating voice. This infernal piece has something mesmerizing like DARKTHRONE’s “Transylvanian Hunger” or ULVER’s “Madrigal Of the Night”. The production of the hellish tunes is very raw and perfectly fits to ULFHETHNAR’s style. A cleaner sound would not please the tracks so well. These warriors deliver a nice underground gem for hellbangers into barbaric sounds. This one is for sure nothing for the mainstream (and is also not intented to be for it).
