Over 10 years ago the Austrian label CCP Records discovered such influential bands like RIGER or DORNENREICH and my expectations had not been too low if it comes to their latest discovery WOODLAND from Lübeck / Germany. But these days you have to expect the unexpected and the outcome of this hour of torment is disastrous. The cover artwork gives the impression of another EMPYRIUM typ band but the music on “Dreamality” is lacking of a clear musical profile – the influences are raging from AMON AMARTH Viking Metal to female fronted Heavy Metal. Especially the female vocals are so extremely poor – if you want to risk your life check out ‘Nachtgesänge’ or ‘Woyzeck’ to understand my point – that I can’t stand this album for more than two rounds. The vocals bring back ‘sweet’ campfire memories when dozens of people try – and that’s the important world of this sentence – to sing. This fact is further supported by the “na-na-na-na-na-na-na” melodies which automatically lead to the immediate destruction of every Metal soul.
