DEATH VOMIT

I can not exactly remember, but it was a movie sample / intro of a MORTICIAN song. The words were: "Then we got the plague… the living death… quickly closing its fist over the entire planet." During the last months it seems that not the living death, but old school Death Metal is closing its fist over the entire planet. Of course there have always been outputs breathing that special ancient flair, but right now, in the year 2014, it is really hard to keep pace with all those releases. Death Metal and Chile has always been an inspirating and productive combination, just think of bands like TORTURER, PENTAGRAM CHILE, DOMINUS XUL, UNAUSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN, DEMONIC RAGE or MELEKTAUS, to name just a few. DEATH VOMIT are a rather new band, formed in 2011. They released one demo ("Infestation", 2012) and last year a split tape together with their fellow countrymen UTTERTOMB (by the way, another promising Chilean Death Metal outfit). The guitar-work somehow reminds me of some old school Swedish Death Metal like CARNAGE or GROTESQUE. The songs are mostly played pretty fast, there are some mid-tempo parts, but not really remarkable ones. It’s all the way fast-forward. Eleven songs (plus short intro) in 37 minutes should be note enough. Guitar soloing? Of course there are some, but like the mid-tempo parts just short and not really significant. The vocals tend more to deep guttural grunts with a very slight echoing effect. The album is topped of by the fine cover artwork, you can even hear the dirty rotten evil pungent sound by just watching it. To sum it up: another highlight for all Death Metal lunatics! Epilogue: after finishing this review I googled the above mentioned quotation. It is from the movie "Cyborg" (1989) and the sample served as intro for the song ‘World Domination’ from the "House By The Cemetery" EP (1995) by MORTICIAN. http://deathvomit.bandcamp.com, www.xtreemmusic.com
