Finnish Death Metal legends DEMILICH have had their demo material re-released by Svart Records back in 2018 as vinyl only, but with this re-release they included CD and vinyl options for those of us that still like the CD version of music. The band is notorious for their killer debut album in 1993 titled “Nespithe” (if you haven’t checked out that album, you need to do so ASAP). The band made a huge roar with their debut album but then quickly broke up. Throughout the years the quartet have been an on again / off again team reuniting every few years and recently in 2021 they recorded a demo. Let’s dive into this collection of demos and indulge in some epic Death Metal from the ’90s. The band plays extreme Death Metal and at times ventures into the Tech Death Metal side. Let’s talk about what’s included in this collection: 1991’s “Regurgitation Of Blood” demo, recorded and mixed by two clandestine fellows in March 1991, 1991’s “The Four Instructive Tales… Of Decomposition” demo, recorded and mixed in July 1991, 1992’s “Somewhere Inside The Bowels Of Endlessness…” demo, recorded and mixed in Spring 1992, 1992’s “The Echo” demo, recorded and mixed in July / August 1992, and finally 2006’s “Vanishing” sessions, recorded in early spring 2006 and mixed / re-mastered in the Fall of 2013. Listening to the early demos brings me back to the early ’90s when everything in Death Metal felt like it was going in a new direction. Production-wise it’s mostly a solid production attempts with these demos. The music / vocals are clear and concise, ripe for headbanging. The majority of these songs appear in the debut album and one can make their own comparison on which version they prefer. In summary, this is an excellent collection of demo material and a sign of homage to DEMILICH. If you have been a fan of DEMILICH then you know what to expect from this demo collection. The band showcased their abilities in these demos that show why they are so heavily revered in the Death Metal community. I highly recommend you check out these demos. If you loved their debut album, you can’t go wrong. Until next time, hold those beers high and headbang until your head falls off!!! www.facebook.com/demilichband, www.facebook.com/svartrecords
