DEMONBREED
Where Gods Come To Die

Out of the ashes of defunct LAY DOWN ROTTEN, DEMONBREED has been formed by former members Jost and Timo, who commited former LAY DOWN ROTTEN members Daniel and Johannes to join them as well. Fernando from MILKING THE GOATMACHINE completed the new-line-up and the hellish force was ready to storm the Death Metal universe. Their demo last year was a good taster already and showed the quality of the band and the chosen direction. This is groovy old school HM-2 Swedish styled Death Metal in the vein of ENTOMBED and DISMEMBER, but in a modern and groovy interpretation. The guitars are building a thick wall which gets enriched by the technical and very precise drumming of Timo and the raw grunts of the charismatic vocalist Jost, which get varied by screams and grunts of the other members. The songwriting is very elaborated and with tracks like ‘Empty Grave’ with a really memorable melody line,‘Barren Wasteland’ or ‘Red Countess’ the band has written some really outstanding tracks for a debut release. The production is clear and powerful but has a filthy touch which fits perfect to their music. This really good output gets completed by a cool and well-fitting cover artwork and a well-done cover tune of EDGE OF SANITY’s killer track ‘Blood Colored’ from my favourite EDGE OF SANITY album “Purgatory Afterglow”. There is not much more to say than, if you love old school Death Metal from Sweden and miss DISMEMBER, this output is the cure for that. “Where Gods Come To Die” surely will enter the TOP 10 of this year’s Death Metal releases.
