Unburied… from a somewhat predictable death. Yes, DEVOURMENT in 2010 is actually the prequel to FURBOWL… so, at least 20 years have passed since the band was formed. This vinyl 7" EP was just resurrected to show a rehearsal of the band, with a decent sound, and to expose their form of Death Metal they were doing back in the day. The main sound I can relate to besides FURBOWL is CARNAGE. And for a change, although they are Swedish and came from that period where most bands sounded similar, there is something in their sound that sets them a bit apart. Yes, they do actually have melody in their songs, but the low-tuned guitars and the very guttural vocals add a different touch. Also, there is an obvious MASTER / DEATHSTRIKE influence on the sound, with more than a few Punk touches here and there. Now, as an historical document it is quite OK, but to be brutally honest, this would have been better in a demo or bonus song for FURBOWL re-issues. And even back in the day, this was just above average. Something a hardcore collector will get, but not really essential.
