Nattverk
(Ván Records)

Are you ready for the last Supper? Think of a night of ritual, sacrifice and almost 26 minutes of a dense and obscure ceremony. Yes, this is what these two bands, VETTER (Norway) and FYRNASK (Germany) are here for. To officiate the ceremony. The name of this split “Nattverk” is a Norwegian word that means “Supper” and invites you to join their fog. Two Black Metal bands doing, meaning and playing what two Black Metal bands are supposed to do. The night for both bands is fundamental and the vibe that you feel around whenever you start listening to these two tracks here, ‘Ved Nattens Porter’, 14:08 minutes (VETTER) and ‘Torremåneds Nat’ 11:36 minutes (FYRNASK ) it seems to be their table to operate. As soon as you arrive at the ritual, you are required to get your eyes closed, to light your candles up and prepare your spirit for the mass. The fact that both songs are long enough, allows the two bands to capture the essence of the night and make you part of the Supper. I didn’t know VETTER to be honest, and the track ‘Ved Nattens Porter’, reminded me of DØDHEIMSGARD’s “Kronet Til Konge” (one of my favorite Black Metal albums of all time). Of course, for me it was a really good surprise and I got to take a look at other offerings from the VETTER’s discography. I found an excellent band and I will follow them from now on. In regards to FYRNASK with their track ‘Torremåneds Nat’, well, they are maintaining their style rooted in the more traditional Black Metal sound and presenting a very evil track that balances things very well on this split. In general, I’ll say that this split does what I expected to do and I will simply await for any upcoming release from these two Black Metal acts.
