Cryptorium Records will be re-releasing the classic "Calls From The Beyond" album by Swedish Death Metallers MEGASLAUGHTER. This release will be the first proper re-release of the album with great sound quality and a bonus CD featuring all the demos ("Negative Bitch" from 1989, "Death Remains" from 1990, the "Demo ’91" and 2 never before released rehearsal songs that were recorded at the end of ’91). With contribution by the former members the booklet will be full of never before seen photos, flyers and gig posters spanning the period between 1988 – 1992. A new cover artwork has been provided by renowned artist Joe Petagno (MARDUK, ANGELCORPSE, MOTÖRHEAD, DIABOLIC etc.), the new cover is based on the original artwork and also features the band’s real logo. When the album was first released in 1991 the frontcover was made without the band’s control and has become known as one of the most sloppy made covers in the history of Death Metal (it didn’t even feature the band’s own logo, the artist just made up a logo for the band and painted it on the cover). The original cover will be featured in the booklet just as the covers for all the demos. Some minor work is still being made with the layout, further news will come of the exact date of release etc.
US warmachine KOMMANDANT and Swedish Deathers NOMINON will release a vinyl split 7" through Cryptorium Records. KOMMANDANT (featuring members of acts like INCESTUOUS, CONTAGION / FUNEREAL, KRIEG, NACHTMYSTIUM, CIANIDE and more), will contribute a new song called ‘Absence Of Light’, while NOMINON will recorded the IMPALED NAZARENE cover ‘Human Proof’ (from the album "Nihil"). With the CD reissue of DEATH STRIKE‘s classic "Fuckin’ Death" already available, Dark Descent Records is now taking pre-orders for the vinyl version. During the years before the resurrection FESTER’s Bjørn "Tiger" Mathisen and Thomas Andresen played in a band called SINCERA. Formed in 2002, the band was meant as a side project with members from local Metal bands such as DECIPHER, FESTER, WITHER, PSYCHOTIC PAIN and ALGOL. Playing a more furious, more aggressive style of Black / Death, SINCERA tapped into some of the more aggressive feelings that the members had, yet some FESTER-ish and slow moments are kept as well. Abyss Records will release a very special album from SINCERA later this autumn. The first recorded release that FESTER’s Bjørn "Tiger" Mathisen Fester was involved in 17 years will be called "Cursed And Proud" and will include a remastered version of the unreleased "Tall And Proud" demo and four live tracks. FESTER has just completed the recording of their first studio album in 17 years, entitled "A Celebration Of Death". The album is targeted for a late 2011 / early 2012 release through Abyss Records. Original member Bjørn "Tiger" Mathisen has recruited Thomas Andresen (ALGOL) on vocals, Jon Bakker (KAMPFAR) on bass and Grammy nominated Jazz drummer Audun Kleive for session drums. Mortiis has made a hellish and dark remix of one of the songs and there are contributions from Mr. Kyrck and Guido of YSENGRIN. The art is done by Alex Brown of Bad News Brown. Bjørn "Tiger" Mathisen commented on the album: "FESTER has kept their old school feel, and maybe even taking it back to the Stone Age. No effect boxes are used on the guitars; just the basic and sick sounds of old guitars, amps and racks from the late 60s and early 70s, produced in the most dark and wicked way you can imagine. The influence of old school Metal acts like CELTIC FROST, BATHORY etc. can be heard on this release too. FESTER has kept its identity from the past. Swedish Death Metallers VOLTURYON have officially announced Alexander Högbom as the band’s new vocalist. Replacing Olle Ekman, Högbom is in for a baptism by fire as VOLTURYON performs with DEMONICAL on the Eastern Death Infernal Tour. Says VOLTURYON guitarist Andreas Olander about the new addition, "We’ve known Alexander for a while through his band SPASMODIC and his occasional guest appearances with us. His vocals impressed us from day one. It’s with great anticipation we look into the future." "I first made contact with VOLTURYON when they mailed me their promo-CD, "Blood Cure"," says Högbom. I was running a rock club in Ludvika by the name Cavum back then, and they wanted me to book a gig for them at the club. I listened to their promo and was really impressed, so I arranged a gig for them in August of 2008 in Ludvika. Ever since I have been a fan of VOLTURYON. After a few years with no further contact I received a text message from [drummer] Christian Netzell, wondering if I wanted to join the band and do the east-Europe/Baltic tour with them, and I said yes. It is quite an honor to have been chosen to do the vocals in Volturyon and to play with such skilled musicians." The Eastern Death Infernal Tour 2011 will run from October 26 to November 12, focusing mainly on Baltic and Eastern European territories.
