2016 is almost over, so as every year it’s about time now to look back on the best releases of the year. If you’d like to participate in our BEST OF 2016 poll, please go here and send us a list of your 10 favorite releases of 2016 (no matter if it’s a demo, EP, mini album or full length) until December 30, 2016. We will publish the results in early 2017.
US Power Thrashers HEXX have signed a two album deal with High Roller Records. The band is currently working on twelve new songs with producer Bart Gabriel (CRYSTAL VIPER, BURNING STARR, MYTHRA), who already produced "Tyrants Of Steel", the band’s latest split EP with RUTHLESS. The new album, that will be entitled "Wrath Of The Reaper", will showcase the band’s return to their roots, and the style they are known for from their early classic albums "Under The Spell" and "No Escape". It will be released in the Spring / Summer of 2017. HEXX currently consists of founding member and guitarist Dan Watson, new vocalist Eddy Vega, Bob Wright (from BROCAS HELM) on second guitar, Mike Horn on bass guitar and John Shaffer (who already played with HEXX between 1986 and 1995 and returned in 2014) on drums. Gore Death / Grinders NASTY SURGEONS (featuring members from MISTWEAVER and MASS BURIAL) have been signed by Xtreem Music for the release of their debut album "Exhumation Requiem". The cover artwork has been created by Juanjo Castellano and the full tracklist reads as follows: ‘The Resurrectionists’, ‘The Creation Of The Monstrosity’, ‘Human Flesh Is Also Food’, ‘Antemortem Dissection’, ‘Autopsy’s Protocol’, ‘Nasty Surgeons’, ‘Ode To Bad Taste’, ‘Burnt With Sulfuric Acid’, ‘Devoured Alive’ and ‘Exhumation Requiem’. Finnish Death Metallers PURTENANCE have re-signed a deal with Xtreem Music for the release of their upcoming recordings. The band is currently writing material for a new mini CD to be recorded in early 2017. Their 1992 debut album "Member Of Immortal Damnation" will also be re-issued next years on CD / LP / cassette to commemorate its 25th anniversary. Slovenian Thrashers PANIKK have just finished the recordings of their second album "Discarded Existence" which will be released on March 15, 2017 through Xtreem Music. Spanish Death Metallers APOSENTO will enter the studio in early 2017 to record their second full length "Bleed To Death" which will be released through Xtreem Music again. The album will feature new vocalist Mark, who’s in the band for a couple of years now, as well as new mambers Gabri (drums) and Sergio (guitar). It will be sung in English (their debut was still in Spanish) and some of the songtitles are ‘Bleeding Flesh’, ‘Partially Deceased Syndrome’, ‘Cannibalistic Communion’, ‘Maleficarvm’ and ‘The Divine Art Of Torture’. Michigan based blackened Grinders SUNLIGHT’S BANE will release their debut album "The Blackest Volume: Like All The Earth Was Buried" on February 17, 2017 via Innerstrength Records. Swedish Black / Death Metallers OMNIZIDE are streaming a new song entitled ‘Deathwomb’ at this location now. HAXXAN‘s debut album "Loch Ness Rising" will be released on December 30, 2016 via Hells Headbangers. The band was formed in 2011 by Killjoy (NECROPHAGIA, THE RAVENOUS, WURDULAK etc.) and guitarist Shawn Slusarek with the intention to write material in the vein of BEHERIT, ARCHGOAT and BLASPHEMY combined with hints of CANDLEMASS and MERCYFUL FATE.
