BLOOD COURT
The Burial

This band by Stefan Muñoz (who handles all instruments) and Michael Vössing (vocals) is a band that personally helps me assert that the extreme music, with focus and vision, has an inescapable impact. The sound here leans entirely toward the brutal Death / Grindcore spectrum. In “The Burial”, an attack lasting just over half an hour, there are no deviations or experiments. Only music created to inject adrenaline, power and the essential darkness of the genre. The band maintains a cohesion in its sound and its thematic approach that is exemplary. The album’s tracks adhere perfectly to the manual of brutality. The opening with ‘Mutilate’ is a direct hit to the ear. Vössing’s voice is guttural and deep, the perfect translation of lyrical malice, and is the ideal complement to Muñoz’s dense and precise instrumentation, which is never lost in unnecessary shit. The title track ‘The Burial’ demonstrates the successful blend of old school Death Metal and modern techniques. The duo delves into the atmosphere with tracks like ‘The Entrance’, which hits you with a heavy introduction before detonating into an explosive rhythm. ‘Blood Mill’ utilizes marked grooves that offer a momentary breather without sacrificing intensity for a single moment. The second half, with tracks like ‘Father Cannibal’ and the furious ‘Dismemberment Command’, is pure undiluted fury. The musicians of BLOOD COURT demonstrate technical and compositional maturity, understanding that brutality requires precision to be effective. The inclusion of the two covers is an act of reverence to the foundations. The CANNIBAL CORPSE track ‘I Cum Blood’ is delivered with the correct dose of pure savagery. The SODOM track ‘The Crippler’ is a high point, enriched by the guest appearance of Sabina Classen from HOLY MOSES, whose performance adds an unexpected and contrasting element to Vössing’s cavernous growls. This decision for collaboration reinforces the band’s conceptual maturity. The album moves between classic Death Metal and brutal Grind. And even when I’m not a huge fan myself of this Metal genre, I thoroughly enjoyed this album a lot. I was immersed in the intensity of this work, where the music is pure power. “The Burial” will not change the landscape, but it is an intense dose of excellent Death Metal that delivers on its promise. It is a consistent and effective album. If you are looking for uncompromising Death Metal / Grindcore, here is an album to put on again and again.
