I had no clue about ALTARS ABLAZE till the review request hit my inbox. I looked them up and I knew I immediately had to pick them from the list, primarily because of the various bands that the members were associated with. We’ve got members from GARBAGE DISPOSAL, CULT OF FIRE (Live) and BRUTALLY DECEASED, three bands that I absolutely love. When such thought patterns combine to write primal Death / Black Metal, you know you’re in for a treat. Now, let me first knock off your insanely high expectations and tell you upfront, this isn’t a genre defining album, honestly, not every album is anyway. However, “Life Desecration” is one of the tightest albums you’ll listen to in 2022. As such, the musicianship is top notch, the riffs complement the atmosphere in Transylvanian archaeological digs, the drumming is pitch-perfect and the vocals simply spew hate in a waveform. Oh man, this is an angry band and it left me wondering what if they played Death Metal full time but then once track # 3 ‘Shrine Destroyer’ kicks in, they offer you a taste of that as well. The guitars sound majestic, chaotic and purposeful, the vocals drive the crazy train through the mist of darkness. The drumming keeps up the energy and channels the energy across the dull fields beyond. Again, this isn’t something brand new or unique, this is just incredibly well presented whilst embracing the delivery style of German Thrash and Scandinavian Black Metal, which is what gives this album a unique touch. If you like Black Metal in any shape or form, you have to give this a listen. Tracks like ‘Across The Empires of Death’ showcase how fantastic technical rhythm sections can easily be incorporated into the Black Metal attack. The marriage of such a wide range of styles is what gives ALTARS ABLAZE its edge. Highly recommended! For more information, please visit: www.facebook.com/altars.ablaze, www.facebook.com/lavadome
