ANGRRSTH
Znikąd

From the Polish town of Toruń, a new Black Metal band has emerged. ANGRRSTH was formed just last year and released their first demo “Znikąd” (Polish for: no one) through Bandcamp this year. Now Godz Ov War Productions released this demo once again with one extra track. For a band that is around for about a year only, ANGRRSTH sound amazingly matured. The diversified opening ‘Krew I Trans’ (Blood and trance) already convinces with atmospheric mid paced parts, elements of Doom and some fast outbreaks. Somehow I felt reminded of ULTHA in this one, which can be seen as a huge compliment. With ‘I Kopyt Słyszę Stuk’ (I hear the sound of hoofs), ANGRRSTH stay on the chosen path, with a little hint on the melodic side of Black Metal. Next up is ‘Upadłem’, which translates as ‘fallen’. And once more, ANGRRSTH show their feeling for great black emotions, since this one is full of pitch black harmonies and darkened Doom. The last song from the original demo is ‘Siarka I Kwas’ (which, according to my wife, means: sulphur and acid). ANGRRSTH sound closer to old fashioned Black Metal here, without forgetting the atmosphere and the changes of speed. In the end of this EP, the extra song ‘Nad Głową Sznur’ (Above my head a rope) surprises with an intro part that reminds of classic Metal. And these influences from the old Metal school continue through the whole song, making it a worthy, yet unexpected ending of “Znikąd”. Anyone into the fine art of blackness should not be deterred by the strange name of the band and give ANGRRSTH a chance, for this EP is absolutley worth it.
