This is fine news: the great Polish Black Metal act ANGRRSTH have released something new, just about a year after their fantastic album “Donikad”. This time it is “only” an EP entitled “W Czeluść” (‘Into The Abyss’) for which they teamed up with their country mates CZORT, featuring two new songs from each band. And ANGRRSTH continued to walk the beaten path. This means we get fantastic and diversified state-of-the-art Black Metal that unites the best of the old school with the more atmospheric approach of the new millennium. Even more, we get some of the best the genre has to offer in general. With the opening ‘Petla’ (‘Loop’ in English) we probably have the best song ANGRRSTH has recorded yet. The fury of this one is unbelievable, the atmosphere is a rollercoaster ride deep into the dark and the songwriting is just overwhelming. So ‘Petla’ alone is a convincing reason to get “W Czeluść”, especially as this song is the perfect realisation of the album’s title. With ‘Przerwana’ (‘Stopped’), we have another fine song that gets pretty close to perfection. It simply is beyond belief how great ANGRRSTH really are here, as they really outdo nearly any other Black Metal band on the planet. After these two masterpieces of Black Metal, CZORT from Silesia are in quite a difficult position. But their quite melodic Black Metal definitely is worth listening to. The catchy ‘Zródlo Upadku’ (‘The Source Of The Fall’) is a fine track that reminds of a more aggressive version of early IN FLAMES and ‘Ofiara’ (‘Victim’) goes in a similar direction but shows some hints on classic Metal as well. Looking at the big picture, “W Czeluść” offers finest stuff for lovers of extreme Metal with style.
