Hailing from Cremona, Italy here we have Apostolum a very young band along the lines of late ANATHEMA / KATATONIA and just a little bit of early SAMAEL which translated to simple words portrays a band wandering somewhere in the Black / Doom realm. This MCD starts with a promising mood with the song ‘Dark Deep Waters’ which is basically the only worthy track on the whole disc. Things start going really awful as soon as you jump into the second song ‘Anxiety Attack’ with those attempts to a BURZUM impersonation which in fact wiped away the "depressive" touch and replaced that with a burst of laughter that I almost needed some oxigen assistance in order to recover. The rest of the songs on the disc… Well… pretty much forgetable slow stuff that really does not click with me and ruined again by the somewhat lame growl of the vocalist. The guys seem to put some effort in the compositions / production department but they are kind of doomed if there are not a drastic change on the vocals. I guess the other band members were really busy with the lipstick while the vocalist was "performing" in the studio. My hope is to find a good use for this CD, I’m already thinking as a freesbie for my son or rip someone off of his / her money and use it to buy beer and continue laughing my ass off the second song.
