AUTUMNAL REAPER formed in 1991, and appear to have remained active ever since – but it’s only within the last decade or so that they’ve bared their fangs. Sounding very much like DENIAL OF GOD, the music of AUTUMNAL REAPER is heavy with melody, but not fluffy or tender, exactly like a Black Metal band should be; not for the faint of heart. Perhaps another line of comparison lies with DISSECTION, who everyone knows, is one of the most famous – and infamous – melodic Black Metal bands. DISSECTION and DENIAL OF GOD both, are beloved by their fans because of the sheer artistry of their songs, combining the carnivalesque of KING DIAMOND, and the evil of BATHORY to unique heights.By rights, AUTUMNAL REAPER should have released this album years ago – that way they too might have the same level of fame as DISSECTION and DENIAL OF GOD because they do the same thing almost as well.
