CONCRETE WINDS is a Death Metal / Grindcore band from Finland who do not waste a second of your time. This self-titled album is their third full length and is released by Sepulchral Voice Records. Track # 1, ‘Permanent Dissonance’, lives up to its name and is just a crazy track, the guitars are in overdrive and leave you suffocated. The vocals are on point and the drumming is perfect. The pointy guitar solos are an absolute highlight. Grindcore isn’t necessarily in the Top # 5 of the genres that I like, but CONCRETE WINDS sure know how to write stellar songs and leave no space for any ambiguity. Sticking to the traditional song lengths in the genre, the band works through the tracks in quick succession. The longest song on this full length, ‘Demented Gospels’, clocks in at 3 minutes and 41 seconds. Everything else feels like a tank through enemy territory. CONCRETE WINDS might not end up on a lot of Top # 10 lists for the end of the year, but they’ve absolutely provided some quality Metal music here for all fans alike. Recommended for fans of Death Metal and Noise, the sound is a brilliant amalgamation of ferociousness of Black Metal and ruthlessness of Grindcore. This needs to be heard in its entirety to understand the delicate message that CONCRETE WINDS has in store for you.
