When an email came in, offering to review a debut album by CREATIVE WASTE, I was intrigued and grabbed it straight away. Why? The band comes from Saudi Arabia and I’ve never heard any Metal band from that part of the world, so needless to say I was intrigued. Now when you think about that, it shouldn’t come as a big surprise, I mean, Metal music is reaching more and more far away places so why not indulge in some grinding action from the desert? And CREATIVE WASTE will come at you like a fuckin’ furious desert storm with 10 tracks of vicious Death / Grind! Man, I was floored, I’ve never expected it to be that good, but it is! Although this is their debut full-length album (they have released the "Cruelty Beyond Conception" EP in 2008), the band has been playing their trade since 2002, so they handle their instruments pretty damn well and the musicianship is top notch! As soon as the first track ‘Divide And Conquer’ kicks in, you know these 3 dudes mean business and they never let got for a second! It sounds massive, angry and full on fire! One can spot influences by NASUM, TERRORIZER, ROTTEN SOUND and MISERY INDEX, so you won’t be falling over yourself blinded by their originality, but performance-wise they can definitely grind you into the ground, I can feel the raging fire coming out of my speakers when tracks like ‘Slaves To Conformity’, ‘Cradle To Grave’, ‘Descendants Of Cain’ or ‘The Low Born’ start blasting away. But it’s not all fast and faster, they know how to slow things down for a bit, add a touch of deadly groove, make you bang that rotting head of yours, spill some brains around, kill some bystanders in the process and then get back into full speed action! The sound is organic and clear, every instrument has its place in the mix, rough-shouty vocals perfectly blend with the maelstrom of catchy riffs and pummeling yet intricate drumming, making me to think that these guys blow the new TERRORIZER album out of the water by sheer energy level contained within it! I wasn’t so chuffed by new Death / Grind release since last year’s DEATH TOLL 80K album "Harsh Realities" and "Slaves To Conformity" comes pretty close to it! So here it is, a Death / Grind band from Saudi Arabia which kicks some serious ass and gives their teachers a run for their money. Who could’ve thought? Not me, but you live and learn! Go on and check it out! All details on how to get it should be here: www.facebook.com/CreativeWaste
