DAY OF EXECUTION
Inevitable End

Second album form this Bulgarian band, formed way back in 2009, but with some of their members already involved in extreme music since 1998. This is pure and heavy Death Metal which recalls a lot the Florida scene from the 90s with a sound that draws a lot from bands like early MASSACRE and DEATH but also has the spirit of the glorious BOLT THROWER and to add insult to injury, some old school Thrash in the POSSESSED and CELTIC FROST vein. With a heavy use of the bass, and a very good production that fits the style very well, DAY OF EXECUTION takes us back to the glory days of Death Metal of the aforementioned bands. As a matter of fact one band that they remind me a lot of was the excellent German band TORCHURE (a band I suggest you to check out in case you have not done yet). I must add the vocals sound like Karl Willets, and are absolutely great. I find the band playing mostly in a upper mid-tempo speed most of the time, yet they are also quite comfortable playing in a faster mood. Lyric-wise they deal with the usual Death Metal themes, war, gore and corpse molestation, as Death Metal should be. A song like ‘The Beast Of War’ is a total skull-crushing anthem in which the band plays in many speeds yet keeping it heavy and brutal, also the references to their many influences shine here, yet it sounds very theirs. It is no surprise to find the arise when the band ends this with a quite good OBITUARY cover. A great band, horrible logo, but killer music.
