DEATH´S FORSAKEN

The first time I noticed the name DEATH’S FORSAKEN was on the "Best Of 2015" list of chief editor Frank Stöver. And if you know his excellent taste regarding Death Metal this placement is some kind of award or knightly accolade. But since there are so many brilliant bands out there and due to my bad memory for names I forgot the band. All too soon, I must admit after hearing the four tracks of the debut EP by this Mexican based quartet. The guitar work is difficult to describe, drilling but not in terms of fast, more some kind of slow but constant flow. The song structures are developing slow and twisted, I guess the guys have been listening to "The Rack" by ASPHYX quite some times. But this Doom Metal influenced parts are just one aspect, the other ingredients are mid-tempo stomping and shredding blast-beats. This mixture gives the whole affair a chaotic touch, but only a mild one. The vocals are done the classical way – deep grunting. Regarding the atmosphere it is exactly the way I like my Death Metal, namely dark, morbid and obscure. The EP is topped off with a well-balanced sound and a dead-on cover. Hopefully there will be a full-length by DEATH’S FORSAKEN and if so, I am pretty sure it will be on my annual "Best Of" list. Instead of waiting for another SADISTIC INTENT output, especially after the last one was, diplomatically spoken, a bit confusing, support DEATH’S FORSAKEN!
