After the very enjoyable "Beyond The Cursed Tombs" from 2010, this sinister duo from the US, consisting of Sinworm on vocals, guitar & bass and Elektrokutioner on drums & bass presents us their latest effort. If you’re not familiar with the bands impressive discography, DECREPITAPH executes some top notch headbangable heavy Death Metal with Doom parts and some very catchy hooks. The atmosphere is excellent and brings back the mighty early ninetees class. BASTARD PRIEST, CLAWS, GRAVE RITUAL, CORPSESSED, SORORICDE, BEYOND HELL, TOMBSTONES (both in which drummer Elektrokutioner participates) and RIBSPREADER all came to mind (with tons of others) while listeing to this. The production is again awesome, just as it was on "Beyond The Cursed Tombs". Thick with a lot of echo in the guitar department. Drums are way more upfront, but everything sounds perfectly balanced. The slight drawback of the guitars gives it the right underground feel. Effectively supported by the raw grunts and bass you’re immediately confedent there’s something that can’t really go wrong. On "Profane Doctrines Unburied" each and every track consists of excellent melodies mixed with twisted leads that are incorporated in a very cool way. Not alone did they remind of those used in some obscure Finnish pearls from the past, but in many times a lead brings about a break down or turningpoint in each song. Because of the many references to the past, it may appear that DECREPITAPH is primarily aiming for worshipping the glorious second wave of Death Metal days. That’s not the case, and wouldn’t do justice to them at all. It just happens to be of the good old class. Just listen to ‘Desecrate Sacred Flesh’, and you’ll get the point! All ten songs are worth your attention and support. Check out this jewel! Go to www.decrepitaph.comwww.razorbackrecords.com for more info.
