I’m unquestionably a fan of Chilean Death Metal!! The scene in that South American country is so awesome and the amount of first class bands such as TRIMEGISTO, DOMINUS XUL, ANCIENT CRYPTS, MAGNANIMUS, UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN, NAR MATTARU, THY SERPENT’S CULT or almighty MELEKTAUS (just to name a few) is sheer unbelievable. DEMONIC RAGE is another remarkable gem from that country. After more than a decade of existence and countless demo and EP releases the band finally unleashed its debut full-length upon mankind. The more I listen to that album the more I’m convinced that it is an awesome piece of brutality. Those demons perform very wide-ranged and quite interesting structured Death Metal. They really know how to create great dark, unholy and blasphemous hymns and to combine different tempo variations. So "Venomous Wine From Putrid Bodies" is a splendid combination of ultra heavy slow-motion, galloping mid-tempo and blasting speed. For example, the last track ‘All Pest Shall Fall Over Me’ starts as a pure Doom monster but then becomes faster and faster to end in some sinister blackish furor. I would describe the style as strongly influenced by early 90s US Death Metal with the gloomy edge most Finnish bands had in those days. I totally love the fantastic melodic and twisted guitar leads. Also the production kicks ass, the sound is powerful and very dynamic and the sinister growling voice fits perfectly to the blasphemous music. To sum it up: DEMONIC RAGE delivered a highly recommended piece of vicious Death Metal and you definitely have to add this darkened opus to your collection.
