2016 was a very prolific year for DESTRÖYER 666 – they toured a lot, they had their share of internet-based controversy and, last but not least – released their long awaited album "Wildfire", 7 years after the previous one. Even though it seems that each D666 album so far was a success in the eyes of many fans, I would go as far as saying that "Wildfire" is easily the band’s best full length album since the iconic "Unchain The Wolves". The main difference between "Wildfire" and any other post "Unchain…" album is the awesome production that "Wildfire" has. Although "Phoenix Rising", for example, offers some awesome songwriting, I must admit that I can’t listen to that album at all, due to its horrible drum sound. "Wildfire" is a totally different story – it sounds really organic and full of energy. Surprisingly, despite being the first album in the band’s history that has no Australian members but K.K. Warslut, it offers everything one would expect from a classic D666 album. Tracks like ‘Wildfire’ and ‘Live And Burn’ are full of rebellous Rock’n’Roll spirit, the instrumental ‘Artigilio Del Diavolo’ shows that even though Shrapnel is no longer a member of the band – they are still capable of providing great guitar leads and ‘Tamam Shud’ is easily one of the most epic songs ever made by the band, if not the most. Even though K.K. must have already reached his mid 40s and neither could the other band members be called young, "Wildfire" presents a band in a great shape, totally on top of their game.
