DISGRAVED

I love old dusty Metal of most kinds, though I reckon Metal of Death is what I’ve been listening to the most throughout time, even though it is quite difficult to measure such a thing. But one thing is for sure, I’ve been highly appreciating the rise of Death Metal of many kinds through out the last 5-6 years or so, after the genre was in a slump for a good while, with not that many highlights being released. Nowadays a new band or release, with decent quality sees the dark of night quite often, and that is something I like, even though it is a tough job to keep up with all the new stuff around. DISGRAVED is one of those new bands, who have popped up from almost nowhere and is now assaulting us with their first 2 track demo of audio-terror. The band hails from France, though wished they were from Sweden, judging from the sound at least. A thick raw and dusty Sunlight Studio wall of guitars are the driving force behind the 2 tracks, classic riffing Swedish Death Metal style. On top of a solid and crushing beat, laid down by a drum machine, for such it works, though a more organic sound and tad more exciting patterns would spice things up, though as such the simplicity works out great, and with only 2 tracks it doesn’t become too repetitive. The bass is present and evil, lurking beneath the guitars, following them for the most of the time, and last, the guttural growl, a text book example of this genre, with demented shrieks and all, more than fitting for this beast of a band. If you’re into Swedish Death Metal (and who isn’t?) this demo is up your alley. It crushes! A great first release for DISGRAVED, the slight edge of chaos added to the mix is working, together with the clever and catchy compositions. I like my Death Metal this way, even though it’s been heard many times before, then it’s quite fresh to hear new bands carrying on with energy, intensity and sheer brutality and love for certain music and bands. These guys might be a new infestation of evil: www.facebook.com/disgraved
