The swamps of Florida are not what you usually associate with the right surroundings for a total Doom / Death Metal band to rise from the grave. Well, DRUID LORD (feat. ex – members of ACHERON, EQUINOX, INCUBUS) is the living proof that death can even crawl slowly out of a heat ridden territory. After the first two rounds of this two tracker I’m totally convinced that DRUID LORD continue the already so much promisng path of their 2012 EP “Druid Lord Deathcult”. Qualitywise that mentioned EP and the “Baron Blood” material easily stands above the stuff of their debut album. The sound is much heavier; the songs have more flow, more depth and more spirit. ‘Monrch Macabre’ convinces with some extraordinary gloomy leads and a really heavy horror driven atmosphere. If you prefer Doom / Death Metal in the way served by HOODED MENACE, WINTER, old CATHEDRAL or the first PARADISE LOST then make sure to enter the world of DRUID LORD with the “Blood Baron” release, which is a sort of tribute to the same titled horror movie by Mario Bava.
