DRUID LORD, Florida’s Death / Doom insignia band, released their third album “Relics Of The Dead” in January 2022. And this album shows that DRUID LORD only gets better with time. Upon first listen you cannot deny the damp, oppressive and liquid darkness of the sound. I sincerely don’t know how these guys came up with such a perfect production. It not only fits their style perfectly, but the overall atmosphere of these 42 minutes of absolute brilliantly done Death / Doom Metal. The personnel is anything but stellar. Both Greg Chandler (recording / mixing engineer for bands such as MACABRE OMEN, GRAVE MIASMA and others) and Dan Lowndes (mastering engineer for ABSU, CORPSESSED and others) did an amazing job in “Relics From The Dead”. The album sounds phenomenal, organic, raw yet really well balanced in every aspect. Now, onto the music itself. DRUID LORD has crafted a nearly perfect mix of Death Metal’s aggressive onslaught with Doom Metal’s abysmal depths. It is pretty rare nowadays to find a band that can achieve such a flawless balance. The album’s sheer hostility comes courtesy of Elden Santos, a drummer that understands perfectly when to hit hard and wild and when to flow with the haunting passages. Interesting drum fills and detailed double bass rhythms are two of his best assets in my humble opinion. Now, Pete Slate and Chris Wicklein take care of both guitars and they provide the murky desolation with some of the best riffs I’ve heard in a while. These songs are memorable, ranging from twisted and insane parts to profoundly hopeless segments. The combination of eerie melodic leads, creepy harmonic work and the organic guitar tone adds yet another layer to the already crushing character of “Relics Of The Dead”. Top it off with none other than Tony Blakk’s huge bass tone and deep growling vocals and you have, for me, the best DRUID LORD album to date. I cannot recommend this album enough. My original review was longer and more elaborate than this one, but I edited it; just because this album needs to be heard to be believed. Pure and simple. It is just a remarkable and completely outstanding piece of extreme Metal done the way it was meant to be done. If you call yourself an avid Metal listener / collector, just buy this album now! I am completely certain that you won’t be disappointed. Go support the band here: www.facebook.com/druiddeathcult. And get their album here: www.facebook.com/hellsheadbangers
