I Hate Records is definitely one of the leading purveyors of the Doom Metal genre in Europe nowadays and with EREB ALTOR they have taken their mastery to new levels of brilliance. This Sweden-based duo EREB ALTOR apparently has been together since early 90s but it wasn’t until 2003 when they recorded their very first demo that things started to get moving towards accomplishing their desired full-length. Strongly influenced by BATHORY’s viking/epic era they present us this set of seven songs clocking to nearly one hour of magnificent heavy, hypnotic and damn good massive hymns. These guys have figured out the way to extract the best elements of BATHORY’s aforementioned creative time frame to blend it with their own talent / creativity and come up with an instant classic of the genre. Before even trying to tag them as “copycats” think about it twice and give them the chance with an accurate listening. Pleasure guaranteed! I’m just eagerly awaiting a follow up to this overwhelming debut. Will they equal and even surpass what they have already achieved? I’ll cross my fingers they will do and beyond!
