The subtitle of HELLTHRASHING is "the one & only FANzine that don’t waste space on a cover" and they handle it exactly like this as the first interview with the Italian band SCHIZO starts already on the coverpage and the fanzine ends on page 52 with the rest of the HOUR OF 13 interview and a small outro written by the editor. A small editorial by the boss himself, Carlos Kuravilu, is printed on the left side of page 2 introducing his task he wants to achieve with HELLTHRASHING and that’s (to quote him) a personal task. Professional printed, yet enough old school cute & paste flair especially in the review section and several interviews make this output appealing to all the readers out there who don’t want to have a fanzine printed on glossy paper and computerized design. This fanzine is back to the roots layoutwise and that’s great this way. The bands featured here with interviews are among others HELLISH CROSSFIRE, FUTURE TENSE, PYÖVELI, THE WIZARD, WARTH, INFERNUS SERPEST, Self Desecrator (the artist, responsible for a couple of drawings in this fanzine, too), FORCE OF DARKNESS, ATTACKER BLOODY AXE, BAPHOMET’S BLOOD, NOCTURNAL and a few more. Besides that you get an article about Chilean witchery, a BATHORY feature, an UK scene report, a report about old Chilean underground and a feature about ATOMIC AGGRESSOR and a whole bunch of reviews. The reviews itself are quite short but mostly meaningful and honest. The interviews are done quite dedicated and interesting and as you can see when reading the names above the bands featured are not the average type of bands featured in each fanzine around. HELLTHRASHING is in my humble opinion a great fanzine which is fun to read and therefore I can only support this fanzine and praise it to all interested readers out there to check it out. Again I can only recommend to get in touch with Carlos and ask for the price as postage rates might kill the fun once more.
