HOD are not unknown to these pages, having already released an album entitled "Serpent" in 2009 and another demo, "Cry And Piss Yourself" two years earlier. Their name derives from the blind god Hodur from Norse mythology, the son of Odin, who was tricked by Loki and shot a mistletoe arrow, which killed his otherwise invulnerable twin brother Baldur. Our HOD here is from San Antonio, Texas and recorded this demo to show how much they evolved in more than three years since the world saw the release of their debut album. All those who know and like "Serpent" should dig "The Uncreated" as soon as possible. All those who don’t should do so either. These three songs are some of the best I’ve heard from the US Death Metal scene in years, maybe ages. The opener ‘Beneath The Mountain Of The Scorpion’ starts off fast, with Black Metal inspired riffing and a raw vocal delivery with tones of (old) DARKTHRONE style. Accompanied by the great, crushing sound, it is hard to escape from the sheer power of the riffs. Great stuff here! Then we hear ‘I Am Destroyer’- the title is a manifesto! Barely two minutes of (mainly) high speed brutality de luxe! Finally comes ‘When The Ghouls Feed’, which also kills with the power of the riffs. But it is not only pure Death Metal – HOD have lots of influences from old school Black Metal as well, and the blend is perfect. Add great musicianship and a well-balanced mix and you get the best demo in ages. Damn, am I impressed! "The Uncreated" is to be released on classic cassette in an edition of just 125 copies. A further release on CD and as download are being figured out by the band.
