Sometimes you have strange deja-vus. In case of British one man project INCULCATOR, somehow the long forgotten Techno Thrash / Crossover band D.B.C. crossed my mind again after a lot of years. Anybody remembers these pretty unique, but somehow too strange and awkward Canadians? If so, you’re most likely to understand the first INCULCATOR album “Void Abededary”. Or at least to get a hint on how this strange band sounds. The sound of INCULCATOR is of course not just simply cloning the strange stuff of D.B.C., all these crazy guitar patterns with a VOIVOD touch and the unexpected breaks and fills. No, this British guy also learned his lesson in Black / Thrash and the praise of Lucifer. In addition, the compositions are often pretty complex, forming long songs with a lot of breaks to interrupt the predominant high speed. This sounds like it needs getting used to. And indeed, “Void Abecedary” really needs more than just one or two runs through to really unfold what this album has to offer. The reward for those listeners stable enough to really give this band a chance is an absolutely unique album that on the one hand will receive some praise in the underground. Yet, on the other hand, this ‘Didactic Darkthrash’, using the title of the last song as a new genre, is too far out to really catch greater attention.
