Frank sent me this CD because I am quite interested in the American Black Metal underground and bands like the almighty BLACK WITCHERY, WIND OF THE BLACK MOUNTAINS, THORNSPAWN or GRAND BELIAL’s KEY have released some incredible good albums this year and easily crushed almost everything that emerged from Norway or Sweden! So I thought INIMICAL might follow the tradition of the bands I just mentioned, but unfortunately this is not the case. The one-man-project plays an extremely raw and hateful interpretation of the Scandinavian Black Metal-style and sounds like a mixture of older GORGOROTH and the old EMPEROR demos, so it might be interesting for the truest of the true out there, but not for me. The MCD contains very fast, dark and possessed Black Metal with a production like DARKTHRONE’s "Transylvanian Hunger", but the whole thing is not very original and that is what I don’t like about it, besides the fact that INIMICAL use a fucking drum computer. I simply can not imagine that this should be a must-have for anyone except those Black Metal maniacs who wear corpsepaint even during work. The info sheet that came with the CD asked me to be fair and I think I am, when I tell you that I do not like it, but you could, if you like very, very raw, very very hateful and very very primitive northern Black Metal.
