INSANER
Ignorancia Y Decadencia

“This is Thrash Death Metal from Lima – Peru, crank it up to 11 or die in pain”. Hard words to start a review with, right? Well, not my words, just the words written on the inlay sheet of this fantastic layouted 7” EP out on Putrescense Records. As you know what’s your destination now, if you don’t follow this advice, you better play it on 11 (yeah man, SPINAL TAP rules, haha). INSANER were formed in 1987 and the recording featured is their rehearsal demo from 1989. As you can guess reading this, the sound is rather poor, though good enough for a rehearsal recorded with lame equipment and same conditions. If nostalgia is your main ambition I can truly say this is a release for you as the music performed is pretty good Death Thrash Metal. It’s a common tradition to pick out the gems from the past and praise them to heaven. I won’t do it here. I mean, I haven’t heard from this band before therefore I don’t see a cult status in them. What I get with INSANER would have attracted me back then (actually I wasn’t into this type of music yet in 1989, so what…). It’s harsh Thrash with Death Metal influences, taking from those acts as DEATH, SLAYER or HOLOCAUSTO (Bra), offering many tempo variations and is basically a pretty varied type of this form of music. With a very good sound this could be really outstanding. As we don’t have the best sound here my advice is to check it out and buy it if you are a fan of nostalgic Metal releases and if you are fan of old South American Metal in general. It surely has its charm and I like it. The layout is, as already mentioned before, fantastic for a seven-inch and this forces me to write it would be no mistake to carry this release in your good sorted collection if you are one of those fans described above.
