KHORS
Cold

With all the conflict going on in the Ukraine it distracts one from the musical exports that the country has provided us throughout the years. KHORS has been making Black Metal since the early 2000s but more importantly signed a deal with Svarga Music in 2013 to have their first 4 albums re-issued. Featuring members of NOKTURNAL MORTUM, KZOHH, and HATE FOREST in their ranks, KHORS has become a unique super group. Enter the re-issue of the band’s second full length, 2006’s "Cold", a great piece of work that has been in my CD rotation monthly. The first thing that you will notice is the artwork on the cover in that it is different than the original but at the same time does keep the mountain-view style that the original had. The next thing that you will notice is the album is re-mastered, yes re-mastered and it indeed helps the music stand out that much more. Sadly, I was hoping to get some bonus tracks i.e. live tracks, demo material, B-sides, or outtakes from the session but nah, seems like Svarga either skipped on that or the band didn’t have much material to provide. Oh well, win some and lose some. Don’t get me wrong, the music is still excellent and has stood the test of time (the album is almost a decade old). Each piece provides a walk thorough. If you haven’t heard the album yet and like music in the vein of NOKTURNAL MORTUM, YGG, and KRODA then you will really enjoy KHORS. The bands blends a nice amount of Black Metal with instrumental folkish parts that don’t overwhelm the senses. Overall the album being re-mastered is great and does the music justice.
