I think we can keep this quite short: despite the hopes I had in this since I have never been disappointed by a band from Iceland (POTENTIAM, SOLSTAFIR, CURSE…), this is simply mediocre mid-to-end of Nineties Swedish sounding Black Metal with everything you expected from such a release: very melodic approach, “ultra-evil”-Satan-lyrics (and don’t get me wrong, those of Jon Nödtveidt e.g. had class!), corpsepaint (which I still find unsuitable for short-haired persons), a clean production etc. I wouldn’t even have bought this CD at the times when I enjoyed nearly every single band that sounded like somewhere between NAGLFAR and MARDUK, but times changed. If you still find this release attractive, I recommend to check out the songs ‘In Silence’, ‘Myrk’ and ‘The Spell’ which are at least bearable, but the rest… I hope this does not become standard for 2004, as it bores the hell out of me. www.ketzer-records.de
